Is this still maintained?

Is this still maintained? The last release was nearly one year ago and there are a lot of untouched or untriaged. I totally understand this is challenging for nearly 200 issues now, but things like https://github.com/phw/peek/issues/681 really show some big problems. I mean, people already indicated, they would possibly donate a few bucks, see https://github.com/phw/peek/issues/693, but even this issue has no reply.

So: Is this still maintained?

If not, if the software is really not usable anymore better remove it from the software stores (Flathub etc.). You can also archive this repository, to mark it as unmaintained. People then cannot submit PRs and there is a big warning that this is archived. Remember to add a note to the Readme before to explain that it is unmaintained, and – if you think this is useful – why and probably mention alternatives.

The project works just fine for my usage, but I also just realized that it hadn't been maintained in a while.

Did you find any alternative to peek yet that has a similar UX?

Well… GNOME 42 now has an improved screenshot (and screencast!) support built-in. It does not give you GIFs, but WebM files (which are better anyway due to modern codecs etc., i.e. smaller), but these could be converted afterwards. IMHO, that is the superior alternative, especially as I prefer webm anyway.
