Override "Require unique subnets" option

Open johnhoogeveen opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

By default you want this feature to be enabled to prevent duplicate subnets. But sometimes you just want to override it for a specific range. For example, I work for a MSP and we prefer to use the same subnet for Guest Wifi for the different customers. For reporting purposes we must register the subnet on a per customer basis. When we just switch of the feature under phpIPAM settings we take the risk that a colleague makes a mistake and registers a duplicate subnet the needs to be unique. It would be great if there is an option to override this uniqueness requirement during creation of the new subnet. A possible solution might be the we get an error that the subnet is already registered, but facilitate and "override" checkbox.

I believe it is unique per VRF. Can you create a new VRF for each guest WiFi?

I guess the feature I am looking for is not really VRF, but it works fine. We just created several VRF's, each linked to the different customers. When creating the overlapping subnet and select the newly created VRF for that customer we can register the subnet. For the reporting purposes we have the required information on a per customer view.
