Wrong URLs on forum main board

Hi there.

I'm having a problem while using the extension. The main board URLs are not the user-friendly ones, but then once I'm inside any of the forums, the URL in the breadcrumbs are the right ones.

As an example:

  • This News and suggestion forum URL is /forum12.html Screenshot 2021-07-10 at 23 41 31

  • But then, on the breadcrumb is /news-and-suggestions-f12.html which is what I would expect (even tho I would expect the ID to not be there because that is what I configured on the settings) Screenshot 2021-07-10 at 23 40 12

Any idea why this is happening?

Thank you!

I don't have this error, what's your settings with USU? My settings are :

  • URL rewriting type : advanced
  • activate sql rewriting : yes
  • sid removing : yes
  • highlights removing : yes
  • forum url caching : yes
  • forum id removing : no

Zero Duplicate

  • activate the zero duplicate : no
  • strict mode : no
  • post redirections : guest

Did you check the url you've got in the section "Forum URL Management"? in that section i can change them manually and put whatever i want that way : the-url-the-way-i-want-f1.html

Thanks for your answer @zetrader

I've set my settings the same as yours (I had them pretty similar) but it still does not work.

If I enter one of the forums, the URL for the topics are correct. And as I said, the breadcrumb is showing also the right URL.

The problem is only happening on the main board view, both for forum URLs as for topics URLs. Quite strange.

Another thing that I noticed on the Forum URL Management settings is that for all of them, it says This Forum URL is not cached: Screenshot 2021-07-11 at 23 11 38

I don't know if that could be causing any issues or how could I "fix it". The cache directory is found and writable: Screenshot 2021-07-11 at 23 13 05

What confuses me is that only on the "index" of the forum the URLs are wrong, then inside any forum/topic all the URLs are as expected.

So this is interesting... now all the forums under Forum URL Management show in green: Screenshot 2021-07-15 at 12 16 09

And if I got to the board's home page, the link to the forums is actually correct now: Screenshot 2021-07-15 at 12 17 27

BUT the link to the posts from the board home page is still wrong.... not sure if that is also something that has to do with cache or a different issue...

Did you try with the last version of USU? It's been updated today.

zetrader avatar Jul 31 '21 19:07 zetrader

Thanks for the info. But I can't see the new release. If I check on https://github.com/phpbb-seo/usu/releases the latest release is from March 3rd

The master branch, https://github.com/phpbb-seo/usu You click on download zip, and you have the latest, updated today. The last update made today is here : https://github.com/phpbb-seo/usu/commit/167090c841ea87102d4be447ac2a7196604ef439

I think I've solution for this.

Go to ACP > PHPBB SEO -> Forum URL Management and go to bottom and submit / save it.

That's it, at least solved my problem.

Hello everyone.

I am very new to this software. PLEASE. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have installed phpbb 3.3.8 and I am trying to use the July 2021 USU SEO Plugin

Everything installs correctly but i am not sure if i am using the plugin correctly.

When i activate the plugin and copy my htaccess file to the root, my website works up to the home page. Once I click on a forum or a member name it says "this page cannot be found"

from here on i am stuck and I would appreciate some help. I have been working with this plugin for the last 3 days but cant seem how to use it correctly.

Thank you very much for your time. :)
