DOS port?
I realise this may be out of the scope of this project but... Would a DOS port be possible? Like what happened with Quake II and Hexen II where both games were ported to DOS in recent years, with improved features. It would really give Wipeout that genuine old skool look without having to fake it, and it would also be great to see both software rendering and 3dfx Voodoo support.
And yeah there's already a DOS port of Wipeout that was released in 1995, but it was very poor. The worst of all the ports - All the tracks use flat textures with no lighting/shading effects, there's some wrong coloured textures, no resolution options, and the menu screen animations (like logos and ships) spin around comically fast, amongst many other issues. So this would be a great opportunity to right that wrong, and obviously DOSBox or PCem emulation can be used for testing/development.
