Failure to play demo1.demo

On x86-64 Fedora 16 doom3 fails to play demofiles (each one for different reasons it seems) demo1.demo does this http://www.pasteall.org/26743 this is not an issue universally with demos though it seems, shot_demo001.demo for me displays the demo(but makes the console unusable)

I guess it was too much to hope that this might have been fixed accidentally. Still broken.
