I'm not a fan of this. What if you want to stack your poker tables?

I don't recall having any problems when I ran on linux. Maybe it only worked on my specific WM/poker client setup, though.

I appreciate the feedback! I can confirm that this doesn't work if you're stacking; neither does qwindow.raise_(). Do you have any suggestions?

A related problem is that each aux window shows up on my task bar (see screenshot). My reading of the docs suggests that maybe there should be a parent window to prevent this?

No better ideas off the top of my head, no. Not sure about the taskbar thing, I only tested with i3wm and it was a long while ago now. Having a parent does seem like a plausible solution for that, but it might further complicate the on-top behaviour we want. Not sure. It might also complicate matters on other platforms.
