[Feature request] Panning is unintuitive; 2 suggestions for it

Open oredaze opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

  1. In most applications when you pan (move) an image you are moving the image itself; in pqiv you are moving the "camera" or "monitor" or the "viewport" whatever you want to call it. That results in the image moving in the opposite direction of what you would expect. It would be nice if we could toggle between the 2 ways.

  2. Also an other thing that pqiv does differently: when you move the image you can do that infinitely. In other applications when you reach the end of one side of the image you are not allowed to continue panning so that black color (the background) starts appearing. It would be nice if we get an option for that too.

What's really interesting about this is I distinctly remember having the discussion from (1) with me taking the same discussion as you 😂 I don't think changing the default is a great idea for that, but let's add an option!

Disallowing panning beyond having a corner/border of the image at the center of the screen sounds like a sane default behavior even.

Great! But I am not sure if you got my idea about the second one - image edge should not move past monitor edge. That is the default in a lot of viewers. It's not a major inconvenience anyway.
