Zoom doesn't go fullscreen on MacOS

I've installed pqiv via brew on MacOS 10.14.6. In my config file I have

scale-images-up=1

With that, images used to be scaled up to the maximum. Since an upgrade a few weeks back the images are only scaled somewhat, but not to the possible maximum. There remains a thick black border.

What might've caused this? How can I fix it?
