Ah I found out that the code installed by pip is 2 years old. The newest issues have been fixed in the main branch though. All my issues were solved...

indeed, it also did not work for my version (6.12): the option to choose the SkypeImageInline Layout was not visible. I installed [version 6.3](http://www.oldapps.com/mac/skype.php?old_skype=11978?download) and there it is visible.
