youtube plugin does not work anymore

Well, on a LMS version 8.4.1, youtube plugin version 0.210 When trying to play any song i get the image, the duration af the song like 3:30, but the song doesn't play and stay at 0:00/3:30. log line related are the following : [24-02-21 15:41:36.0300] Plugins::YouTube::WebM::ANON (690) could not get codec info 403 Forbidden [24-02-21 15:41:36.1482] Plugins::YouTube::WebM::ANON (636) could not find start offset 403 Forbidden [24-02-21 15:45:41.4619] Plugins::YouTube::WebM::ANON (690) could not get codec info 403 Forbidden [24-02-21 15:45:41.5446] Plugins::YouTube::WebM::ANON (636) could not find start offset 403 Forbidden

youtube access API key is there and haven't change.... any help will be most welcome

I doubt this that (but you certainly know the youtube mechanism better than me) :

  • because this have not work in at least on month.
  • because the same request done from a navigator work. Best regards.

The navigator is fully different and do not consume these types of points. Then YT might have disabled your account as they do more and more aggressively these days. Delete the key and the project and recreate a new one from scratch

Same problem here, just realised today. I am not sure when it started, not using Youtube on LMS too often.

Attached you'll find an LMS debug log that starts at clicking on the play icon for a video in the Youtube search results: server.log (Note that my API key has been anonymized in the log.) At the end of the log you'll find the error Plugins::YouTube::WebM::__ANON__ (690) could not get codec info 403 Forbidden.

I am using

  • Logitech Media Server Version: 8.5.2 - 1716215514 @ Sun 26 May 2024 05:49:23 PM CEST
  • YouTube 0.212

Hello, I have the same problem since some days. It was working perfect a long time now. Since I use youtube regularly the API key shouldn't be the problem.

Maybe it has something to do with the location? I'm from Germany.

Hi @odin81 . If the issue is location-based, it is now present in multiple geographical regions. I am in the United States and my experience is same as what you describe - the plugin has been working well for several years, but now no longer works, and my API key is functioning correctly.

United Kingdom as well. Was working fine until 2 weeks ago. I was away last week but now have same error in the log.

Updated API key and Oauth2 credentials, reset DSL connection for new IP address but no difference.

I had same issue as people say but it seems solved for me after update plugin to 0.300 version. 💯

confirmed I had same issue from US for past few weeks, never had issues with this plugin before.

LMS Version: 8.4.0, Youtube plugin version: v0.212.

Upgraded to plugin version v0.300 just now, and plugin works again.
