0 vs ^ for beginning of line

Is there a particular reason for this difference between the plugin and Vim?

In my unmodified install of vim, 0 goes to the beginning of the line.

Ah. That's what I get for not reading the documentation thoroughly:

The "^" command moves to the first non-blank character of the line.
The "0" command (zero) moves to the very first character of the line.

I never knew about the 0 command.
