Seems a bit random (middle of the scroll bar)

Maybe it could be a button similar to the floating "All branches" at the bottom that appears when scrolled down e.g. https://github.com/HermanNygaard/react-scroll-to-top

It's supposed to be on top of the vertical scroll bar. I believe it only looks as weird as it does on your screenshot on Windows. Making it a floating button would be fine with me too, as long as it doesn't become too distracting while also being well-visible on top of all the other content which could turn out to be difficult.
