Remove Commands from Editor Menu and File Menu

Open AtlcatlQ opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the feature

Maybe a list of Don't Show or Removed Commands or something similar to the Hide other commands list from Status Bar and Left Ribbon feature will be the appropiate

Does this fix a problem? If so, specify.

I'm using (Customizable Menu)[https://github.com/kzhovn/obsidian-customizable-menu] in order to reduce the not useful commands from the Editor and File Menu. I think that will fit a lot with this plugin and help the users to use less but more powerful plugins.

Did you consider other alternatives?

+1 for this. I found this plug-in because Customizable Menu's plug-in page says to use this, but this is the feature I was looking for, so now I've got both in my ever growing pile of plug-ins to make obsidian useable >.> Would love to see this added as a feature of this plug in, especially since Customizable Menu is semi-abandoned.

This is actually pretty important to me because it fixes a bug where Obsidian menus break if there are too many commands in them. At least on my Mac, if the menu is slightly larger than fits the screen (Dock space included) it just doesn't show. This affects both the mochi menu (more options menu) and the tab right click menu, which already have quite a few commands in them let alone those added by quite a few plugins.

As a MWE, this list of plugins added enough commands by default to break both menus. The tab right click menu breaks first probably because it has more default commands than the mochi menu.

  1. Advanced URI
  2. Better Markdown Links
  3. Commander
  4. Dataview
  5. Excalidraw
  6. Link Converter
  7. Metadata Menu

Ideally, if this app allowed for hiding (or better yet, grouping under submenus) of existing commands that would be awesome. Some plugins, like Link Converter, allow the user to turn off their commands in the menus, but not everyone is so gracious.
