Can't unselect or pan (by clicking in blank space)

Most UI's support not having any selection, and most canvas applications support panning the background by dragging it.

I think this is intuitive behavior that needs to be supported to improve usability.

Oh... I see it does actually do this. But there is at least one circumstance under which it doesn't... will try to find it.
