The latest 2.0 version from the appcenter / flatpak. Elementary OS 7.1 2 monitors

Steps

  1. Open the application
  2. Press the "Take screenshot" button (second from the left, with the plus sign)
  3. Find the dialog (see the previous issue), select a screenshot type and delay
  4. Bring a window to take screenshot to the front or select a region
  5. After taking a screenshot the main app window returns to the front

Expected: there is an image in the app, you can edit it etc.

Factual: there is no screenshot in the app, the app is "empty", it looks exactly the same, as before taking the screenshot

Note: the previous version 1.2.1 worked like a charm

Annotator 2.0 now uses the screenshot portal instead of the older method. Unfortunately, it seems that elementary OS 7.1 doesn't implement this portal very well. I have tested this out with the development version of elementary OS 8 which does work correctly, so once that version is released, the current code base should work as advertised.

With that said, I'll see if I can put back the original screen capture code for those using 7.1.
