Tools should be more like modes

Right now, if I need to use the pencil in a few places, I need to re-enable it after every stroke I made. I think tools should be more like modes where you select a tool and then you just continuously add new annotations with it until you switch to something else.

That's a good enhancement suggestion. I have often thought about what would work best here. I think the example of drawing lines may be the best argument for changing the way that elements are added to the canvas.
