macOS Binary Release v2024.4.21 does not boot

Open vga-256 opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Basic Information

  • Platform (Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, etc): macOS 11.7.10, US MP2100 rom

  • Built from source? (yes/no): no, Binary Release v2024.4.21

Description of issue

When Einstein runs, and the emulator is started, the display only shows "Booting" and goes nowhere. A correct ROM has been used, and an earlier binary release (v2022.4.18) works fine.

Expected behaviour

Steps to reproduce issue

Run v2024.4.21 using an MP2100 rom and click Start.

Hmm, it works fine here on 14.3.1 on M1. I assume that clicking [Run] in the Monitor does not improve things.

You should be able to open the setting dialog. Please try with a new flash file and let me know if it boots from scratch with the new file.

FWIW I got the same behaviour the first time I downloaded Einstein (I assumed bad ROMs, I got them from archive.org), then I downloaded the fltk version which worked, and now when I run the cocoa version, it works as expected.

Unfortunately I didn't document what I downloaded from where and when, so I'm only 98% sure that's what I did, but I will try to try on a clean machine and report back.

(running on 12.7)
