Suggestion, split the Clara BW models.
There has a model refresh on the Kobo Clara BW. Original Model is N365. New Model is P365. The firmware versions before 4.42.23296 are not compatible with the P365. It think this change would warrant a separate entry in the table of older firmware releases.

Thanks.
(ps. really, really appreciate this great resource.)
Oh, no, not another one... I haven't even caught up to the tolino/kobo split, nor the mess of branched versions and retroactive releases from this time last year.
I'll need to see how the API responds between the two, and compare the firmwares if they differ.
I used the 4.43.23418 Kobo Clara BW firmware listed on the Kobo Firmware Downloads page to upgrade a new Clara BW P365 without realizing there are two hardware revisions. This resulted in a bricked device.
In retrospect I needed the kobo14 hardware revision firmware but the download links to the kobo12 firmware.
@gallivanter I'm sorry to hear about your device. I've added a warning to the page until we figure out exactly what happened.
How does the apparently bricked device behave? Does it get to the startup animation?
I compared the kobo12 and kobo14 packages, and both have the required folders for the P365 model.
You should still be able to do a hard reset (see https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/articles/18332008301719-Manual-reset-Kobo-Clara-Colour-Kobo-Clara-BW).
My issue may have been a one off but I think the warning is prudent for now. The device was brand new so it's not much hassle to replace, luckily.
The update screen during the upgrade process was the last thing ever displayed. Subsequently it is now completely blank at all times. The startup animation is not displayed.
Thanks the help, I attempted the hard reset procedure a number of times as outlined in the linked article without success. The front light flashes upon powering on the device but but it is otherwise lifeless.
And now I see people reporting an N365B variant.... Kobo really needs starts coughting up some official documentation on this point!

That seems similar to past upgrade issues on certain devices with certain firmware versions (e.g., the recent issue with Auras).
I think yours was a one-off, but I'll leave the warning for now, at least until I finish adding a separate row for the P365.
