Opening File in Query Tool Does Not Retain File Name in Tab

Open anthonydb opened this issue 3 weeks ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug

Version 9.10 is displaying new behavior that appears to be a bug. When I open an existing .sql file in the query tool, the file seems to be treated as a new file. In its tab, its name is shown as an asterisk:

Then, when I save the file by clicking the disk icon or Command + S, a "Save As" dialog is opened instead of just saving the file.

Expected behavior

When I open an existing file with the Query Tool, I expect its name to appear in the tab and to be able to save it without having to navigate in a file dialog.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: macOS Tahoe 26.1
  • pgAdmin version: 9.10
  • Mode: Desktop

Hi @anthonydb,

Can you try latest snapshot build here - https://www.postgresql.org/ftp/pgadmin/pgadmin4/snapshots/2025-11-13/?

Hi @adityatoshniwal,

Yes, it appears to work fine in that build. Thank you.
