Debian installation instructions: Wrong repository key location

Open dhs-rec opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

The Debian installation instructions tell users to store the repository keyring in /usr/share/keyrings, but according to this Debian wiki page this should only be done if there also is a package that manages the key going forward. If there is no such package, the keyring should be stored in /etc/apt/keyrings instead. Here's the relevant paragraph from above wiki page:

If future updates to the certificate will be managed by an apt/dpkg package as recommended below, then it SHOULD be downloaded into /usr/share/keyrings using the same filename that will be provided by the package. If it will be managed locally , it SHOULD be downloaded into /etc/apt/keyrings instead.

Please either correct the installation instructions accordingly or provide a package for managing the keyring.
