Extension is hanging and not doing anything

On chrome Version 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit) Windows 7.

Used to work flawless, now it just hang up and won't type anything.

Sometimes it works after disabling / enabling but right now this just didn't do it.

Also while it's like that you can't access the option page

I meet the same problem. chromeIPass 2.8.1 , KeePassHttp 1.8.4.2 , Chrome 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit) , Windows 10 (64-bit). The problem is most likely to happen when Chrome just start up, in a few minutes chromeIPass keep hanging up and does not response to any actions. Sometimes after a few minutes it works again, while sometimes the problem lasts for a long time. Disabling / enabling it but it still doesn't work.

if it hangs, it's because you have firewall software dropping requests to keepasshttp

I have the same problem:

  • keepass 2.35 and keepasshttp 1.8.4.2 installed in virtual machine (Windows 10) with the firewall disabled
  • chromeIPass 2.8.1 and Chrome 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit) on Mac

Both sides have custom hostname and port set

chromeIPass settings page loads forever and does not retrieve any password while it was working fine two or three weeks ago

I have the same problem under Linux (Chrome Version 58.0.3029.81 (64-bit) - KeePassXC 2.1.3 - chromeIPass 2.8.1) so no, it's not windows firewall-related. Restarting KeePassXC and/or chromeIPass (with disable/enable) sometimes fixes the problem sometimes doesn't.

I discovered a fix for my problem. I noticed that it was my local proxy interfering with traffic, since it is set as a Man in the Middle SSL traffic interceptor, and chromeipass is not establishing a secure connection to it, since it is not using my own certificate. I had to enable the bypass proxy server for local addresses in my windows proxy settings. The symptoms of my problem are the same as yours, my settings page takes ages to load. The button for the extension does not generate its notification bubble. The extension does not fill user names or passwords, and the problem persists across both Vivaldi and Chrome. I stumbled upon the fix when I noticing by changing over to wifi was making the extension work, but the reason was that by switching network, my proxy settings were no longer in use.
