Base URL - How to use

Open david-unwin opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

When I read the documentation for the plugin, it sounds like you can specify a base url . In the documentation it looks like it can be any web site. Is this what is meant by this? I thought I could only use Google Docs servers petkivim-embed-google-docs-Embed-Google-Docs-Viewer-base url

Hi @david-unwin

Yes, the base URL can be any website, it doesn't have to be Google Docs server. However, the base URL must be publicly accessible so that Google Docs servers are able to access it.

Petteri, Thanks for that... I will try it as we would like to point to some PDFs. I assume Google Docs servers can work with .pdf files? In your example you set the url to www.example.com/docs/document.pdf docs in this case in the Joomla environment is a menu item. So how would you set it up to point to a folder ie root/docs ?? Kind regards David

Hi @david-unwin

You can upload PDF files to Google Docs, but in that case you must use the Google Docs file URL to embed them. The base URL is used with PDF files that are hosted outside of Google Docs.

Best regards, Petteri
