Tracker is showing places I have never been to
I just downloaded and ran the iPhoneTracker App. Here are two things of interest:
- I sync two iphones with my mac. The app only shows the map from the most recently synced iphone. Sync the other and a new map is shown. Not a problem, just an observation.
- This is puzzling. My iphone shows I have been many places that I have not been - places that are many miles away from where I was. On the 10th of February it shows my iphone travelling around Northern Australia to outback towns that I have never visited in my life. This is particularly bizarre as on that date I was in South Korea, with my iphone in my pocket. There are no records at all of my iphone in Korea or Japan, which is not surprising as I left the SIM locked while I was there - but why the little outback trip record???
Unfortunately there's no user interface to choose different devices, it just picks the most recently synced iPad or iPhone with valid data. This does mean you can usually view a particular device's information by syncing it though. That way its files are the newest, and re-running the application should pick them up.
The outback data is strange. We've definitely seen some occurrences like this, but we haven't figured out a pattern.
cheers, Pete

This is happening with me as well. Your app shows me data as old as 2 years (starting with 6/23/10) and all of my travels have been on the east coast (New York, Maine, Virginia, etc.) but about two months in at August 4th, 2010 it plots a bunch of points in Las Vegas, NV. If it will help, I'm happy to send you any data files. I'm pretty sure my phone didn't go to Las Vegas without me! :) I guess though, if your app is just interpreting the data, could the data be wrong? Also, the point plotted there align in a perfect way, in straight lines.
Oh, and I only have one device.
