[Bug] Moving windows with shortcuts behave strange after update
Operating System: KDE neon 6.2 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Graphics Platform: Wayland Karousel version: 0.11
Description: After updating to Plasma 6.3. moving windows to other workplaces with shortcuts behave in a strange way. Windows just loosing focus. Sometimes they move, Somtimes they vanish behind other windows. I can't find a rule. Resizing a windows with shortcuts is the same as issue #83. Moving windows in the stack on the same workplace works well.
I am happy to help if I get any clues on what behaviour I should report.
Update: With a downgrade to version 0.10 everything works normal again.
Thank you for the report. Can you specify which shortcuts you're using for moving windows to other workplaces?
Shortcuts I defined: move left: alt+meta+left move right: alt+meta+right move up: alt+meta+up move down: alt+meta+down increase: shift+meta++ decrease: shift+meta+-
I've experienced this, too. I haven't checked systematically, but I have a feeling that it happens in situations with VS Code and Firefox. I sometimes run multiple windows of both. I also almost have both open, so my sampling is biased.
(Since I did a bug report that seemed to be the same thing)
What I do to replicate this: Open several windows in a single virtual desktop, so they are tiled (you have >1 windows opened in a single virtual desktop) Try to move one of them to another virtual desktop (I do this with a keyboard shortcut, but it also happens when clicking the window titlebar -> Desktops -> <another_virtual_desktop>)
Observed results: The window won't move to another virtual desktop, it will just un-tile and lose focus. Repeating the 'move to another virtual desktop' action in this state will finally move the window. No matter if "Untile windows by dragging them" is enabled or disabled, this issue keeps happening in both cases.
Also another issue I forgot to mention in the original report is that I also no longer can move a second window to a column, so a column has two rows of windows. If I try this with Meta+Shift+A or Meta+Shift+D they will just un-tile.
Expected results: The window will move at the first try, without losing focus
Additional info: I noticed this started happening at some point since Plasma 6.3. Downgrading Karousel won't fix the issue (in my case) but I believe this is caused by some upstream change in Kwin/Plasma, though I can't pinpoint what it was. Disabling Karousel will let windows move between virtual desktops as expected, though.
I've just started using Karousel and am having this problem. Has anyone on this thread found any fixes and/or workaround?
#116 May be a duplicate of this one. I'm using the workaround script I posted there to move the current window to the next desktop.
