Let's close this for now. 👍 My original problem was solved and this issue can hopefully be found if others run into similar issues in the future.

@rnorth Anything blocking this from being merged now, given that 1.15.1 is released? Would be incredibly nice to make the container logging be more easily controlled from e.g. `logback-test.xml` config.

Ping @bsideup, would be great to get your feedback on this. (Not myself advocating a particular solution, only eager to see #637 resolved one way or the other)

I am also seeing the above on Debian bookworm. Temporarily moving away `/usr/lib/python3.11/EXTERNALLY-MANAGED` helped "fix" the problem (but bear in mind that this clearly feels like the "wrong" way to...

For reference, I am seeing similar compilation errors with `dlib` on Debian bookworm. Python 3.11.
