Support for Brightspot

Dear friends,

I think that support here on github.com should be improved. Many of issues older than one month can be solved with one-sentence answer. There are also bugs which claims to be solved but they aren't. On webpage you say that one can find „Community Support on Github“ But in the fact there are no activities for building these community. I understand that you provide no free of charge support for software you provide as opensource „as is“. But I believe that issue tracking should be improved anyway. Also informations about paid support availibility should be useful.

Related question is whether you want to support community driven development. Before one or two years I asked Ryan Haber:

Hi Ryan,

how are you? I found interesting resource about OSS comunity support and comunity building.

It consist in 5 simple criteria for community driven development (taken from here and here):

  1. If you don't have any committers from outside of your company. You probably aren't community driven.
  2. If you didn't spend time cleaning up documentation for the community when you opened it up. You probably aren't community driven.
  3. If your users haven't helped with the documentation if it is lacking. You probably aren't community driven.
  4. If you do not have some kind of forums/lists where people help each other out. You probably aren't community driven.
  5. If you aren't willing to put in a lot of effort to build your community to get true benefits. You probably aren't community driven.

I believe it should be helpful for your company when you released Brightspot CMS and Dari as opensource.

Please, pass it to responsible managers in Perfect Sense and discuss it. It is relevant to our previous discussions.

Personally I miss public forum for Brightspot CMS/Dari users. Because github is more focused to bug reporting, we need some platform where people help each other. For example our whole dicsussion about example project, forms handling, one to many relationships etc. should be published there so other people can participate on it or profit from it in future. When only github issues should be used for this, only way to discuss something is create "please, fix documentation" issues :-) Of course, documentation should be also enhanced according to public forum comments.

Today it is still unclear. Can you comment my thoughts?

With best regards, Ondrej Nemecek.
