making making install there are no folders or files named rgb_zones

Take a look at the branches on the repo https://github.com/ranisalt/hp-omen-linux-module I am on Ubuntu 22.10 kernel 5.19 so I tried this version on my HP Omen 16 https://github.com/ranisalt/hp-omen-linux-module/tree/rebase-5.19

After a reboot the files were there and I could change keyboard colours.

On freshly installed Bookworm Debian on an HP 17-ap000 Omen X laptop with DKMS and Kernel Headers I get no hp-wmi under my /sys/devices/platform after installing and making (and subsequently rebooting)
