Not really a problem here, but a question.

Where does niffs stand in relation to spiffs? Newer, older, or just NOR specific?

Niffs is coded after spiffs, but spiffs have more running hours afaik. Niffs is for nor flashes that can be addressed internally (i.e the actual internal flash on mcus), whereas spiffs was constructed with external spi flashes in mind.
