Partnership with Litterati

Open Beardmix opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

Hi Pedro,

I really like the project and the idea behind it! I don't know if you know them, but there is a similar but not competitive project called "Litterati". It's litter classification crowdsourcing. https://www.litterati.org/ They have 4 million classified samples.

Maybe you could leverage the power of their dataset or use it as a pre-training of some sort. I think that combining efforts will be essential here :D

Hope it helps, Mathieu

Hi Mathieu,

I have indeed talked to someone from Litterati. This is kind of ongoing.. We are open to partnering if that makes sense for both parties. Still too early to tell.

Obviously they have incomparable amount of data, $ and momentum. That would be nice, but just to make it clear, I should point out that (1) the images are not open, (2) about half of the '4 million classified samples' that you mention have some kind of tags, that's what they mean by 'classified'.

Our main problem is obtaining good segmentations for new images: http://tacodataset.org/annotate That's the bottleneck right now.

Thanks once more more the suggestion, Pedro
