Operating system specific instructions for noobs

Hey! Noob here. Managed to get this working (I think, albeit really slow speed, Aus to US). However, I'm totally lost at creating the script. This would be way more accesible if you included OS specific instructions (e.g. on Mac, you can use VIM to edit config). I'm specifically looking how to now get the startup script working.
