Add some stats about the projects?
Hey,
Thanks for curating this list! I was thinking if add a way to quickly check basic stats about the projects will be useful?
Like when was the project released, is it actively maintained, documentation/tutorial/guides available etc etc
Hi, thanks for your feedback. That's would be nice but it would take too much time to maintain it. However I agree that most important project should be somehow highlighted. What shout just adding a star to all projects that have at least 100 GH stars ?
I think that'll be a good start, I guess. I'll do that. 👍
One way to add stats without maintaining stats themselves would be to use a badge service such as shields.io to
- fetch the stat (such as GitHub stars per repo)
- render it to SVG
- serve it as an image within the rendered markdown document.
For example, https://img.shields.io/github/stars/{gh_user}/{gh_repo}?stars
would display the number of stars a repo has, while https://img.shields.io/github/commit-activity/y/{gh_user}/{gh_repo}
would list the number of commits in the last year.
Given the impressive number of projects on this awesome-list I'd expect some badges to fail to render from time to time. In those cases, it might make sense to have fallback text and links pointing to the GitHub API or pages where the stats might be found.
@pditommaso If you're interested in this feature, lmk and I'll implement it.
I tried to add stars, language and last activity badges in #152
any news about this? it's hard to find what are the leading projects
