Support receiving inline images by drag and drop

Originally posted by TiCeline February 5, 2025 Hi,
when I try to drag and drop Images from Browser / Mail Client to PDF Arranger, nothing happens. It would be great if you could drag the images directly from the application instead of having to save them first.
I'm not an expert of the drag and drop and clipboard protocols when it comes to inline images or other advanced usage. I'm already quite happy with the support we have (PDFs from file explorer should work and pages between PDF Arranger instances) but of course there could always be more - if someone has the time and is willing to implement and maintain them of course 😉
A few questions come to mind:
Does it work with copy and paste? Do you (or does anyone here) have any experience or knowledge of this "inline" drag and drop protocol? Does it contain the raw image data or could it also be a internet link to the image? Are there libraries or Gtk functions we could use? Ideally we would support this on all three platforms but I fear that this could be a bit or work which should ideally be shared between applications. Finally: Which platform(s) did you test this on?
