Question: Is QUIC unlikely to be seen?

Dear Reader,

Primary (Questions, feel free to only read/respond to this section.):

When am I to see QUIC over HTTP/3? Is it such that the standards are so integrated that QUIC will always be superseded by HTTP/3? Can I expect to see the QUIC/SPDY icon under the rare condition that I'm not using HTTP but QUIC is used?

Colors (Ruminations and Suggestions):

I would add the color reference to a drop-down menu when you click on the icon OR have it open a new tab pointing to the https://github.com/pd4d10/http-indicator page or a GitHub hosted webpage that would be the documentation - ideally with test pages that would demonstrate each icon in practice - presumably not possible with GitHub. the HTTP/1 ICON is a little non-contrasting and I'd consider changing the color to a black icon with a white border. I'd add a similar white border to all other icons so that in all contrasts, they'd be highly visible.

I'm not sure about the conditions for the default icon, but I'd make it into a purple or black question mark as to emphasize the unknown circumstance and make that visually obvious via the coloring.

Censorship:

I have heard of censorship of HTTP/3, this could be an interesting thing to measure and notify the user (such as the blue HTTP/2 icon with a slash through it indicating that HTTP/3 is possible but failing because a specific known censorship method.) But I'm not sure if this fits the scope or purpose of this project and it may not be possible within the limitations of the web add-on system. Regardless, it may be something to consider.

End:

I like this tool a bit, and will continue to use it, regardless of the status of development or particulars. It is a simple and useful visual notifier, and I'm glad to have it.

These are some minor concerns I've had, I'm very interested in learning about the prevalence of this modern standard. Thanks for whatever kind of response I may receive here and I'm glad to have such a simple and useful tool.

Sincerely, Emil.
