It works within the same tab, preserving the exclusion, but not when spawning new tabs. This has been my query since the start

Looks good! But does this mean that `:safe` is the token, or `:` + `safe`? In the latter case, what would happen if a `:` proc is defined, and `safe`...
Then `:` looks like the best option.
