Script only updates Word after installation Office

Open martinvandiemen opened this issue 6 years ago • 6 comments

After installation Office 2016/2019/365 we directly run msupdatehelper. After the script only Microsoft Word is updatet to the latest version. Verbose message shows for no updates available for the other apps.

When opening Word for example AutoUpdate prompts that updates are available for Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote. When cancelling the installation via AutoUpdate and run msupdatehelper again all applications are updated.

Tested with Microsoft AutoUpdate 4.3.18090901

Hi Martin,

I assume you're referring to the msupdate helper for Jamf Pro, which is on my GitHub? I think you're running into a bug in the core MAU tool where the daemon is not refreshing version information after the first update is applied. I'm working on an update to the helper script that works around this bug by waiting ~90 seconds between updates. This provides the daemon with enough time to self-terminate, at which point it refreshes the app versions on next invocation.

I'll upload the new script in the next 48 hours. Let me know if this doesn't solve your problem.

Thanks, Paul.

Hi @pbowden-msft, I emailed you earlier and posted this same issue and on Slack mac admins #microsoft-office. I am seeing this same behavior. Is there a timeout that can be changed in the script that will allow the 90 seconds?

Thanks for the help.

Hi @pbowden-msft. Above you mentioned that you would be uploading a new script. Not trying to be a pest, but do you know when that new script will be available?

Thanks!
