Documentation: Second Screen for 640G pump without upload
I'm wondering if the Android Uploader can be used or modified as a "simple" second Screen of the 640G pump, without uploading any data anywhere. Features would be:
- show current glucose and trend
- show alarms
- ring on alarm (until dismissed)
The app would run on my android smart phone, I would attach the Contour Next Link 2.4 USB stick at night and start the app, so background-tasks are not necessary.
We need this as a babymonitor for a 2 year old and I think a whole nightscout setup would be overkill for just getting a second screen for the pump.
I'm sorry that I write this request here, but I do and will not have Facebook and thus do not see any other way of getting support. Kind regards! Peter
You can do this with the uploader as it stands now. Simply install and plug in the Contour meter and it will act as a display without needing to touch a setting.
The uploader itself only alarms for meter disconnects but you can get glucose alarms by using xDrip installed on the same device.
Thank you very much for this fast reply. I was experimenting today a little with my old Samsung S4. The plain Uploader App works perfectly as a simple second screen. I think you should note this somewhere in the feature list. The xDrip+ App looks promising - I need to check the capabilities of alerting me an my wife on a hypo. I will know more after this coming night ;) I know this is not an "issue", but I will keep it open until I can write more about the alerts. I'll update the subject/title.
The alerts of xDrip+ worked perfectly this night. Thanks a lot. I have some other questions, I will open another issue for that. I'll keep this issue open. Maybe some contributor feels like adding documentation about using die uploader app without uploading ;)
Maybe a hint for the topic second screen. Please have look for this project: https://github.com/mlukasek/M5_NightscoutMon I have 3 kind of them. Awesome.
Thanks a lot. That project looks really interesting if you already have the data at nightscout - not what I was looking for back then, because I was looking for something that does not need a server - but very nice and maybe I will check one in the future.
