Chalk theme not compatible with grav unitegallery plugin

Hey I like our chalk theme.

But recently I tried to add unitegallery to the theme, and it doesn't work. If I switch to the standard quark theme of grav unitegallery works as expected.

Here is the link to unitegallery, which is, I think, well enough documented.

I can't figure out whats prevents the gallery from properly being inserted. I changed the jQuery version from 3 to 2 in the asset configuration in system.yaml, but this also did no effect to the problem.

Maybe you have an idea whats the hindrance here? Thanks for any help

I actually found, that also other gallery plugins like the shortcode-gallery plugin don't work as expected...

what is exactly happening? most of grav plugins are sadly quite old and dont work anymore :/

is jquery even installed and loading? I know grav threw it out coz it's quite undesirable nowadays
