Adding OpenStreetMap APIs
Hey, this is a super cool project! I would be happy to contribute a chapter on OpenStreetMap APIs, as they might be a useful alternative to Google APIs etc :)
In particular, it could cover the following:
- A brief introduction to geo data (or more: links to great existing sources)
- Overpass API (extracting small sets of geo features from OSM)
- Nominatim API (forward and reverse geocoding)
Is there anything else You would like to see in that regard?
I am not sure to what timeline I can commit, but as I understood this will be an ongoing "rolling" project anyways? :)
CC @clandesv :)
Sounds great! Could you shoot us a quick email? See here: https://github.com/paulcbauer/apis_for_social_scientists_a_review
Hi Malte,
yesterday, together with @Nina0521 and Grace Olzinski, we published a chapter on the overpass API: https://bookdown.org/paul/apis_for_social_scientists/overpass-api.html
I thought I would let you know and of course, if you are still interested in pursuing the Nominatim API, we would be very much looking forward! :)
