defaultShowPatternInfo for non 'view-all' pages

I need for the code and pattern annotation to show on default for pages other than view-all. I've set defaultShowPatternInfo in the config file to true but the code and annotations are still hidden unless I click 'Show Pattern Info' under tools. Is there another configuration I should be using to accomplish what I need?
