herniated into & out_of should be subclasses of herniated

At least I think they should be

• herniated into: A quality inhering in a bearer by virtue of the bearer's bodily structure that has protruded through an abnormal opening in the wall that contains it into the surface or boundary of another entity.
• herniated: A quality inhering in a bearer by virtue of the bearer's bodily structure that has protruded through an abnormal opening in the wall that contains it.

From the term names used, one might assume that herniated inheres in the damaged (ripped) wall and herniated_into inheres in the anatomical that is protruded in, but the defs suggests E is always the ripped structure. Perhaps towards could be used with herniated into to indicate the other E?

MP does not import the into and out_of children of herniated. We only have herniated.

For the herniated eq we have: 'herniated intestine' EquivalentTo 'has part' some (herniated and ('characteristic of' some intestine) and ('has modifier' some abnormal))

'umbilical hernia' EquivalentTo 'has part' some (herniated and ('characteristic of' some 'umbilical cord') and ('has modifier' some abnormal))

'herniated abdominal wall' EquivalentTo 'has part' some (herniated and ('characteristic of' some 'abdominal wall') and ('has modifier' some abnormal))

'diaphragmatic hernia' EquivalentTo 'has part' some (herniated and ('characteristic of' some diaphragm) and ('has modifier' some abnormal))

So we seem to be using it both ways, to refer to the thing that is protruding through the wall when this is known or the wall with the hole (when thing protruding through is not specified).

We do have 2 terms that use "protruding out of" encephalomeningocele (MP:0012260) definition "hernial protrusion of the brain and its meninges through an opening or defect in the skull, most often occurring in the occipital region"

exencephaly (MP:0000914) definition "neurocranial defects resulting in exposure or extrusion of the brain"
