performance gradually deteriorates on some sites when extension active

  • Passbolt Version: 4.9.4
  • Platform and Target: -- Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Zen -- Web server: wut?

What you did

Go on youtube, open a short and start to scroll with the extension enabled.

What happened

It will get increasingly slower. When the extension is enabled I generally noticed worse performance on many sites. Don't really know why but I guess it's related to the extension scanning the DOM to add its button.

What you expected to happen

I expect the extension to never have an impact of site performance. Honestly, I'd like an option to disable the extension from adding its controls on the page, which I never use.

Thanks for the report @asters-marnec we'll have a look.

any news on this? Even a suggestion on how to prevent the extension to dynamically add its button around would be enough

I just had this today: Zen 1.6b (based on Firefox 134) had an issue loading YouTube and a popup saying my passport was slowing down Zen (I wasn't yet signed in to PB). Looking at the profiler, it seems like most of it was caused by the recursive or maybe even aggressive query element. That said, I couldn't reproduce it after restarting the app. I have to note that it's likely more due to my old late 2017 iMac that said, I hadn't experienced this issue with Chromium-based browsers.

I am having this same issue on youtube music. Having a site blacklist so that passbolt would stop this annoying behavior for those sites would be really helpful.
