public storefront market

The new roadmap does have a feature called "featured listing spots". I think it would be a great idea also to realize a storefront listing spot. There you could also expose your private store to a wider range of customers, by also paying a certain fee. The interested user then can click on that listing and automatically the storefront with it's unique market-key will be "installed" on the particl desktop. Maybe this can also be realized as one of the "different listing types". In general, I think a separate store-finder-market, where you can search for all "public" markets would be cool.

To understand this request better, and within the context of v3.0, is this a request for featured spots for markets on the Market Browser?

Its an interesting idea... One immediate concern that presents itself that needs to be clarified is how to select which markets (storefronts) are displayed on the featured listing spot if multiple have requested the spot concurrently 🤔

Wow, ... now also I have a hard time to rember exactly what I have meant before :-)))

Maybe one could come up with some kind of rankings for a certain set of categories. Let's say we have the same set of categories as for the listings in the Open Market. It's now up to the market admins to "promote" their market to a category (or multiple categories) for a given timeframe (similar as for the listings as well). This time however, the promoter can also submit a higher then necessary fee (it's up to his choice). The higher the fee he pays, the higher the ranking in the market browser will be, when users are searching for this specific category (like Google Rankings). The promotion-fees should sum up and it should be possible to promote multiple times for each market. The market with the highest payed average fee per day should then be ranked on top of this specific category. The overall market with the currently highest payed average fee per day then additionally could be displayed on the featured listing spot, up until its promotion timeframe has ended, or another market paied more fees (calculated on an average daily base).

That's just a suggestion and there are probably many other ways to set up something similar. Also this could generate more fees and thus making staking more profitable. ;-)

hehehe, yeah, I was understanding that the original request was logged within the context of the v2 PD (and marketplace): the date/time of the issue creation was prior to the current v3 marketplace being ready for integration and we didn't have the v3 version of the market browser and such things worked out yet at that point. But, the issue is still a valid feature request even in the context of v3, so just trying to update this with the new context 😄

Interestingly, the use of fees is a nice idea, but probably not practical at this point in time. Fees paid for the market promotion fee are simply the standard fee paid for broadcasting a message to the network... the way to increase that fee currently would be to add additional data to the message itself. Regardless though of how to pay more fees, the 2nd concern is that the receiver of the broadcast message has no idea of how much fees were paid for the message itself. Apart from potential concerns of possible tracking of the sender (the receiver simply goes searching for transactions in which the fees paid match those of the received message indication of how much fees were paid), any inclusion of the fee amount in the message itself would mean that its possible for the sender to fabricate the fee amount transmitted and thus promote the market without actually necessarily having paid the fee indicated.

Nevertheless, this is still an interesting concept and worth maybe looking into a workable solution for...
