Mouse interferes with input keys?

I connected my XBOX360 wireless controller to my Rapsberry Pi via the original USB receiver. When I move the left stick, the mouse is activated. But then in my application the normal control buttons don't work properly anymore (A: for select (ENTER), B: for back (ESC)). The A button doesn't work at all, so I can't make a selection. Only B ist still working. Also, the mouse pointer is permanently moving down. Can I deactivate the mouse function completely, since it is not needed?
