AVG recognizes Sparkle as a virus and kills it

Open glenmorangie007 opened this issue 1 month ago • 2 comments

there is a (I'm assumming a Python Script) called "check-installed-1762689392529.ps1" which AVG says is an IDP.Generic virus

This ends up being located in C:\users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\sparkle\scripts\

AVG kills this and then also removes the Sparkle.exe file and says "you must restart the PC to finish removal" and moves the mentioned script to the Quarantine

I'm a bit concerned as I want to use this software properly but AVG kills it

Anyway around this as I obviously don't want to disable my Virus Software !!

Thanks

DC

Hey the script in question is a powershell script to check if winget is installed. and i guess this triggers a false positive have you tried adding sparkle as an exception in your anti virus?

I have now applied that exception and of course it as removed the problem but of course I never like to add things until I am absolutely certain that it is not a Virus and will cause no problem to my PC
