Javascript Escape not or wrong displayed

The Javascript Escape \xad should insert a soft hyphen but it does not work.

"I like Oktoberfest" written as "I like Oktober"+\xad+"fest" should result in when there is enough space and should result in when there is not enough space. Instead, it results in

I also tested the escapes sequence \xadfe. While html correctly displays jspdf completely ignores it.
