Back button only works once (Chromium, Firefox)

Expected behavior

• Back button can be used multiple times to go back to a previous page on the docs site

Actual behavior

• On Chromium browsers and Firefox, the back button only goes back one page. Safari seems to work.

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. Visit docs.pantheon.io
2. Visit a page
3. Visit another page
4. Use the back button (OK)
5. Use the back button (No effect)

Huh, I'm seeing the same behavior. My first guess was that this might be a regression introduced by last week's significant retheming. But no, the same broken behavior is present on the preview environment for this months-old PR that uses the previous design.
