Unable to get AWS pangeo binder to work

Open jbusecke opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

I am trying to use the Pangeo binder for a Ocean Science Meeting Tutorial.

Following @rabernat s recommendation I first tried to use nbgitpuller like such: image

Giving me this link, which gives a 500 : Internal Server Error. If I manually check on my server (https://hub.aws-uswest2-binder.pangeo.io/hub/home) it is running, but the tutorial repo is not showing up: image

I then tried to set up pangeo binder link at https://aws-uswest2-binder.pangeo.io image This seems to have trouble launching the server...

Clicking on the resulting link, which gives 404 : Not Found. Again, if I manually check on my server (https://hub.aws-uswest2-binder.pangeo.io/hub/home) it is running, but the files I see are not what I would expect (e.g. this is not the repo I used to set up) image

If anyone has a quick idea how to get this running (for a tutorial in a few hours), that would be grand.

The 500 server error for nbgitpuller seems very similar to https://github.com/pangeo-data/pangeo-docker-images/issues/272.

@rabernat just came up with a solution: Reverting to 2021.11.09 did the trick. Should I close this?

Just note that the user interface with authentication is confusing. You can only have 1 server running at a time, which is why you see "Launch attempt 1 failed... retrying..."

If you want to relaunch or run something new, you need to log into https://hub.aws-uswest2-binder.pangeo.io/hub/home as @jbusecke did above, then File --> Hub Control Panel --> Stop my Server

Thanks @scottyhq, I did make a note on the repo readme
