Not compatible with Rails 3.1

I am having the same trouble.

No error messages just no output either.

Has anyone has any luck getting it to work with Rails 3.1?

same here ... no output also tried the latest forks.. no luck

are there alternatives for 3.1?

You can try coder2000/event_calendar if you want calendars.
