We can have an Alumni Fund for the present alumni and future alumni to donate for the budgets of the tech. club of the college.

Guys , do express your thought about this.

Ya @palash25 , if we will open an alumni fund , college administration will definitely control it , since its a fund matter.

And then there will be a new club for alumi matters ,new secretary , blah blah.

More bureaucracy  . can we somehow make sure that the Alumni fund would only be reserved for tech and not the cult society? Maybe the Alumni can fill an option to donate to the tech or cult society @arijeetsat

Something like that can be done, and then it will completely be the donor's choice to donate for any particular society, may be Tech. , FATS , NAPS whatever.

Well ,I will put this idea with other secretaries , in the next sem, it has to be a combined but fully transparent thing. Give some ideas to make it more transparent.

Guys, I had a brief discussion with Anirudha bhaiya regarding this. Excerpts:

Anirudha Bose: I am not available for the next 4 or 5 months since I'll be busy with a collaboration, outside my day job. You really shouldn't set the dates for an alumni meet based on one person's availability. I've also learnt that very few people showed up at the last alumni meet. To get the alumni to agree on a set of dates will require a lot of effort from you unless it's something like a Silver Jubilee event. Here is a counterproposal, and please discuss it with Palash (@palash25 )too, since he asked me a similar question recently.

I propose you start a "residency programme" that is active throughout the year, and where the alumnus applies for a slot, not the other way round. During her stay, she can interact with the students, share personal experiences, or even coach on topics she is good at. This model seems to be popular in the US.

Of course, the more exclusive you make it (in terms of who is invited), the more students will be eager for future iterations, and more will the alumni be eager to apply.

Ayush Shridhar
I see. Thanks a lot for your insights. We'll definitely work in the direction you mentioned to make this meet a reality.

Anirudha Bose You must debate both the ideas with your team, but finally, do what the students want. Just make sure you don't organize anything that very few students are interested in.

Residency Program ,seems to be a great idea, have to think upon ,how to implement it and whether we will be able to keep it active throughout the year or not.
