CyclOSM maps very slow to download, fails to finish

I've been trying to use the CyclOSM maps recently, and haven't been able to complete the full download of ~140 MB map, not a big area but max zoom level. The download progress bar shows steady progress at first, to maybe a third of the way, but then crawls to a stop.

I've left it overnight, and the progress notification is gone, the map is listed in my maps, but with ~3000 missing tiles. Repairing them brings up the same issue of slow/almost stopped download. It doesn't seem to allow partial repair either: stopping and restarting shows that no tiles were added.

A few weeks ago I've used that map option without any issues, something seems to have changed.

Edit: I've just managed to finish a map repair on a smaller map, still CyclOSM, and the map still shows the same number of missing tiles. I'll try again to make sure.
